Cleo Necklace
This necklace features howlite, hematite and a beautiful rare crystal known as Gold Sheen Obsidian.
This crystal is known for its striking gold sheen that shimmers in the light.
But gold sheen obsidian is more than just a pretty stone.
It has a rich history and a variety of properties and meanings and it is said to promote emotional balance and clarity in life’s endeavours.
What Is Gold Sheen Obsidian?
Gold sheen obsidian, also known as Golden Obsidian, is a type of volcanic glass that has properties that make it valued by many. It has an attractive golden hue and can be polished to create beautiful jewellery such as this necklace.
The stone gets its name from the shimmering gold flecks within the dark glassy surface. This effect is created from tiny particles of hematite during the formation process, and are then exposed when cut.
History Of Gold Obsidian
The use of golden obsidian dates back at least 4,000 years ago when it was mined from volcanic regions around the world. Ancient cultures prized the stone for its healing properties and spiritual significance. In particular, Egyptians used gold sheen obsidian to create jewellery pieces that were thought to attract positive energies.
This necklace is loosely inspired by Cleopatra with its stunning hues of gold, green and black.
Golden obsidian jewellery also became popular among European royalty during the Renaissance period due to its unique beauty and symbolism.
